Safari Niagara: A Trip to the Zoo

As children, my sisters and I experienced not your typical type of family travel. We never went to Disney, or to some tropical island. We never went on shopping trips, or mini spa vacations. Most of the time you could find us camping in Algonquin park, travelling across Canada in an RV, taking a 3 hour family bike ride in Wasaga, or spending an entire day out on the lake fishing. A lot of our family travel was either educational or experiential. I am so thankful for the knowledge and experiences that were instilled in me while on these trips. I look back on it now, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

To this day when I plan a family outing I want it to be full of learning and the chance to experience something different – something you don’t encounter every day. When the opportunity came up to take my family to the zoo, I couldn’t hold back. We bought the tickets, booked the day off, and spent a gorgeous day among the animals…

We went paddleboating, fed the giraffes, watch a grizzly take a bath, listen to the singing monkeys, played in the water, and enjoyed a little picnic. A wonderful day with the family.

What’s your favourite family activity?
